Final.. well almost final.. Dwight I know some dirt and Post effects would help but I have 4 fewer arms than others and only 24 hours per day to work.
I notice the Exteriors Trees, must be in C4D - right. If so you can easily apply the texture image to the bump map, which will add an extra touch of realism in no time.

Really nice design and image.
I’m grateful to Rashid for sending me his model as we’ve all had a good look at his fine effort in Cinema to render the ArchiCAD model. In particular, since I don’t do this kind of design work, I need models from others to prepare my lessons. Still looking for a cute middle-sized commercial building with lots of glass. Help!! Free rendering for the right project!!!

Here’s what I did with it:

1: sun object : five suns at 40, golden yellow.
2: skylite at 60, light blue – see how it fills the shadows with cool color ???
3: ambient 25% - to compensate for a flaw in lightworks where shadows in white areas go suddenly to black – the soffits in this case. Still not happy. Will make undersoffit material glow in next try.
4: Onyx trees instead of the lowpoly Cinema trees – no good in ArchiCAD, anyway. I am an advocate of dark uninteresting foliage that doesn’t make a splash. Silly flower from archaic Medley library just for example.
5: took the saturation down on most materials.
6: Enhanced the depth mapping on the bricks and stone. maybe too much. Depends on the spec. How Rustic? Better than shiny flat Cinema approach.
7: MOST IMPORTANT: Stood a windo lite to shine into the front door alcove.
8: Goofed on foliage perforations – can’t make pattern and transparent in LightWorks – used too-coarse pattern for holes to simulate translucency. Better luck next time.
9: Decided brown roof was softer than dark grey. Do not send taste police after me.
10: Made windo blinds warm grey to counteract nasty moiré pattern. The moon hit my eye.
11: Note LightWorks glass more lively than Cinema…

About three hours work if you don’t consider rendering time – this is the kind of work I do – ArchiCAD rendering is not automatic - there’s always tweaking.

Wow Dwight!..

Not bad.. not bad.. my comments..

While you added life to the entry you removed it (color) from the scene!
I guess the softened mood supports the lit entry better but the sky seems out of place.. too bright for the setting.
I think the back of the Boxster better than the front.. besides.. he just got there

Things I will work on.. Entry light.. but not as bright.
Trees.. will work on textures.. may switch to X-Frog
Bushes.. may be too tropical (leaf scale)
Concrete.. will add some brown or change to brick(different from house) pavers..
Grass Texture..
Increase brick/stone contrast.

I am sure Cinema 4D is much more capable than I am showing.. for now

Thanks for the priceless critiques!

Certainly density and color are matters of taste. I would definitely say the two renderings tell different "stories." On looking at it in the morning, the sky is too weak, considering how dark the elements turned out.....

and so it goes.

The point of the exercise was to see how closely I could get to the quality of your cinema view since so many think the LightWorks solution to be second rate.

That's an idea.. I won't mind really if it is considered to have good comparative qualities.. We've seen it in Cinema 4D (Maybe Mark can let it live to it's real C4D potential?), Lightworks.. why not Artlantis though I'm set in Cinema..
Wanna know something? There are not many, I wish there were more. For example the following tut's are very informative and inspiring. I try to at point out links to products that can be applied to a task, with an example of work. Screen movies like the ones below are the best way to convey a particular process.

My thanks to Jan Walter Schlief in Germany for this one. He sounds like a little guy, Just kidding, I hear that he has a hard time holding the miniscule mouse because his hand covers the entire pad.

Enjoy!
This movie shows some aspects of the combination of Xfrog4 and Dittols to distribute objects onto a surface

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.xfrogdownloads.com/Walli/xfr ... tment.html">http://www.xfrogdownloads.com/Walli/xfrog4-tutorials/ditools/xf4-hairdepartment.html</LINK_TEXT>
This animation shows the free Hairdepartment plugin and some possibilities to combine it together with Xfrog4 and Ditools.

Here is a link to the man, Carles Piles:

http://www.3dluvr.com/carles/images.htm

That render is Lightworks in AC! Duh!.. Now I am impressed..!

Understatement to be sure. Now if Dwight had used better tiling textures it would have been just a touch better. Incredible intutition for AC/LW required to produce consistent results. Hats off to Dwight, looking forward to reading the book. (Which could and should be bundled with future AC purchases.)
