archicad not saving 3D in view map?

Hi!

I usually use Archicad just for floor plans and elevations, while we rely on 3ds Max or similar tools for renderings — so this is my first time using Archicad for that purpose.

I noticed that when I created a rendering, it opened in a separate window. Then, when I was saving and closing the project, it prompted me to save the renderings, which surprised me a bit. But when I reopened the file, I couldn’t find the renderings anywhere. I expected them to be saved in the View Map — is that not the case?

Just to clarify: does Archicad generate 3D renderings but not save them internally in the project file unless they’re explicitly added to the Layouts or saved as Views? (?????) 😄

Hi @cocoloco

You can render your image and save it as an external image file and then place it as a Figure in the layout. That might be the best way for your computer performance.

You can also save the view and set the View Settings so it Generates in: PhotoRendering Window and place that as a Drawing in the layout. This could updated automatically or manually when you change something in your model as needed.

It is up to you.

You could also use the Camera function, if you have defined your view, go to 3D navigation extra's > place camera in path. It will save your viewpoint and you can add different view settings to it later.

When places on a lay-out you can change the resolution in the camera view settings for a high resolution output.
