No problems exporting the halogen light to Artlantis with the checkbox fully enabled. You are doing a "Save As" from the 3D window as Artlantis 3, right?

Please update your Profile (text link below top blue bar of this page) to show your ArchiCAD and Artlantis versions and the platform you're running them on. My guess is that your Artlantis export add-on may be out of date. Check the Artlantis web site to make sure both your version of Artlantis and the plug-ins are up to date.
Hi vfrontiers, thanks for your reply.

The lights checkbox in the Artlantis export window is grayed out so i cant alter it? The lights i am sure are halogen lights, that wouldn't make any difference would it? Its a student version of artlantis, does that matter?

I don't know anything about the student versions..... sorry...

But it may be a blessing in disquise..

I always end up adding my own ARTLANTIS lights anyway... It's easier to control the "layer" that they're on (LIGHT GROUP)... And I typically use light fixtures that aren't necessarily LIGHTS in ArchiCAD...

So you know you can add your own ArtLantis lights inside of artlantis, right?

Just click on the ADD LIGHT button in the LIGHT Info palette..

Turn on the CONTROLLER palette...

1. By clicking on the LIGHT icon in the TOOLS
- A LIGHT GROUP(or groups) will be displayed in the CONTROLLER P.
- Check to see if there are ANY LIGHTS here... if not, they did not export
- If there ARE lights and they are in regular font...
- Right Click on the GROUP NAME and choose ACTIVATE FOR CURRENT VIEW

2. You can also open the 2d VIEW dialog and look for little YELLOW dots in plan view
- If the dots are DIM yellow... light is NOT ACTIVE IN VIEW (see above)
- If light is DARK yellow... light is ACTIVE

3. If there are NO LIGHTS (actually there may be one default light)
- Either the LIGHTS in ArchiCAD are not REAL LIGHTS (just fixture objects / no light source)
- Or your EXPORT has them switched off (see previous posts)

4. If you see there ARE lights, SELECT ONE and make sure you're in the LIGHT TOOL
- Check the setting of each light to make sure they are ON (there's an on/off switch)
- And make sure they have power..

In your scene, it will be difficult to see the effects of the light since your SUN is on and providing light.

Anyway... run thru this list and let me know if there is any news...

Sorry, one more idea

It might be that your just NOT SEEING the light effect because of the sun..

In the HELIODON tool, create a new Heliodon and turn the CLOCK to midnight...

Don't forget, you have to ACTIVATE that heliodon IN CURRENT VIEW also..
(so right click on the name of the heliodon in the controller palette and choose ACTIVATE IN CURRENT VIEW).

Have you worked through the (albeit limited) user manual / help file? There are zillions of settings in Artlantis that you will not discover without readying about them.

You have to understand that Artlantis has views, somewhat like ArchiCAD. So, in the Perspective Inspector (shown below), you can choose which of several heliodons (suns) to use and you can enable as many (or none) light 'groups' as you want, as well as control layer visibility. All of this is saved with a view. There are perspective, axo and many other views.

So, if you do not have a heliodon selected and your light groups checked, it does not matter if the lights are on in the light groups, or that the sun is bright - nothing will be lit.

Lights in Artlantis are created in the Light Inspector shown here. You have 9 basic lamp types to choose from as shown ... then power, color, falloff, etc ... and of course location. By opening the 2D window, you can position your lights within your ArchiCAD fixtures.

You can drag multiply existing lights and more ... see the videos on the Artlantis web site ... a lot of useful training tips there. Note that you can lock (the padlock icon) a light or any other object so that it can't accidentally be moved once you have it where you want it.

You can name/rename your light groups and add lights to them by opening the 'tray' seen in the screenshot.

HTH,
I know this is an old thread but for anybody reading this in future might want to check the following:
Make sure that in the 3D perspective window they are using to export to Artlantis has the lights turned on. To check go to Document / Creative Imaging / Photorendering settings. Select Internal engine and then tick the checkbox next to lights as it is off by default for me.
Once you have done this it activates the greyed out checkbox for lights in the artlantis export window. Check the box and lights should now be present in your artlantis project.
