<T>Problem encountered:
CineRender will render model for a few times then it stops. Photorendering starts in a "Preparing...0%" then "Done" without any rendering.

Anyone of the testers or Graphisoft have any ideas?</T>

Something similar happened to me. The render window and preview was black or sometimes white, but rendering proces still got through. After it say DONE, try to save the picture on hard drive. In my case saved picture was OK. It seems that some display refresh or something similar is wrong.

Just posted similar issue under "CineRender Everything is Blue!" Wish I had seen this one but good to know we are not the only ones with a blacked out image issue.

Hi Barry
Maybe read my posts better, you will see that I have gone the conventional route and I have been in the game for a long time, so I wont post a problem unless I have exhausted all options to try and fix the problem... don't just state the obvious, please help me.

A related problem, is my copy and paste function. When I paste from a capture I can see the paste till I click to place and it simply disappears in ACAD 18 in ACAD 17 it creates a black block... It does not seem that there is a lot of people with this problem.
So I will have to replace the Graphics card and see if that fixes it...

Terribly sorry but not once did you mention that you had updated you video card drivers, nor your level of proficiency nor what you had done to try to fix the problem apart from that it worked on another computer with no problem.
I have no idea what you problem is as I am not sitting in front of your machine.
I'm just trying to eliminate the obvious as more often than not that is the solution.

Does the other machine you tried have exactly the same specs (especially the video card) as your machine?

If you do a screen capture and paste that in an e-mail or another program does it look OK - is it just Archicad 17 that it goes black and 18 that it disappears?

Again I may be asking what seems to be obvious but I have no idea of what you have tried.
Update: The black render seems to be model specific. I just opened another instance of AC18 and it rendered simple walls fine. In another instance I have a model that does not render (only black without and progress).

I originally started this in AC17 (Cadimage delays) and then opened it to AC18.

GS. Any clues? Is this a known bug issue?

Ok, this is too weird.

I have isolated the model issue to the roof layer and the roof composites contained on that layer. I have other roofs in the model as ceiling composites that seem to have no problem.

When I turn off the roof layer, it renders correctly even with the ceiling layer and the ceiling compostes on. I have tried to isolate the roof but to no avail. It still doesn't render. (black preview & render window)

What could it be?

Why does Cinerender have system level control? There should at least be a way to shut it down when it hangs!!!!

this thread is already a bit old, anyway, here is what i guess:

I had or have this issue, too: only white / black images or half-done renderings and cinerender quotes DONE. I discovered that cinerender needs enormous amounts of free hard-drive space as cache (even 200gb free space is sometimes not enough in my case), espacially when using displacement mapping, like some roof-textures do. I assume that that if theres not enough free disk-space cinerenders stops working and quotes: DONE.
(@Graphisoft: how about an error-message?!)
In Cinema4D you can set the amount of ram cinema will use for displacement-mapping. It seems, that cinerender uses nearly no ram for this on my machine (i have 16gb ram) and therefore needs vast amounts of disk-space to cache the displacement-calculations. Is there an option to set this also for cinerender in archicad?

Don't know if i'm guessing right, but do i really need to have 300gb free disk-space for an rendering of 2339x1305 in low standard settings but with displacement mapping for a few roofs-textures?
