Yup, that's what I am saying. The funny thing is I have an earlier rendering I did in the project that worked fine. It has just stopped working recently - so I thought I changed some setting without realizing it.

Procedure is pretty straight forward. Go to a saved 3D view with transparency turned off. Go to the render settings. I have a predefined sketch render style that I use so select that (I also tried a number of the predefined sketch ones as well with the same result), and set it rendering. A few seconds later, I have a render by the windows are all transparent in the render. They are still opaque in the 3D window view. They do render opaque if I use the CineRender engine rather than the Sketch render engine.

I will have to try in a different project to see if it is just this one, or if it is all of them. But that is probably tomorrow's activity.

<T>I am having an issue where a model initially sketch rendered glass with transparency off - but now will only render with transparency on.

Is there a setting, other than the transparency toggle in the 3D window Settings, that controls transparency in a sketch render?</T>

You should update to build 4020 of AC18. This was a bug that was fixed in this latest update:
So you are saying that you still have transparency issues with Sketch rendering even in AC18 update 4020?
Can you give step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce it?
The guys at GS would probably be interested in it.

We are experiencing the same issue, with different results on different computers. 3 PCs, all AC 18 Build 5100. From the same PLN, 2 PCs will complete the sketch render with transparency, and one does not.

Any thoughts?
Can provide further info if needed.
That's great news!

In the meantime, what I've found to work okay is to change the OpenGL transparency settings to 0 just during the sketch render. Works pretty well, even though it is an extra step.

Personally I am looking forward to AC19. The fix listed in the help center
Transparent surfaces are not rendered as such by the Sketch rendering engine
is actually exactly the reverse of what I have experience. I cannot get transparent surfaced to render opaque. It sounds like in AC19 we will have a toggle in the render engine rather than other settings to control transparency. This can then easily be saved with the view settings.

Yes, it seems there will probably be a new "Transparency" checkbox for the Sketch Render in ARCHICAD 19 (of course nothing is final until it is actually release).
