how can i change the background of 3d environment from white into 2 colored one plane and one sky like sketchup
so i can see it close to reality when i click show 3d
i need this without have to render because this can give me more ability to imagine in reality like sketchup
there must be solution for this great programme</T>

Open the "3D Window Settings" dialog. One easy way is to right-click out in space while in the 3D window. See attached - change the Background to "As in PhotoRendering"...

Then, if you want a blue/green split as shown in your screenshot, open the PhotoRendering Settings dialog's Background panel as shown here and set the background to 'Colors' and select your two colors.

Or, select the Picture that you want. Note that neither the color 'horizon', nor your photographic image (Picture) will move in any way as you navigate.

If you want to navigate with a blue sky and the sense of a green ground surface, then make both colors blue, and add a green/grass covered round slab to your model ... a really huge round slab...
Hello Karl , You are right and it was closed but for sorry as you can see the 3d either appear with this color Green for example or with blue not both of them appear together As you can see in the image i make 3d without render but one color only shown although i made it in a level that will show both (this is unlike sketchup) so sad.

Sketchup uses an infinite ground plane. That's why I mentioned that you need to create a very big, round slab to simulate the same thing in ArchiCAD.

Try it. To create the circular slab, draw a huge circle with the circle tool, then magic-wand it (spacebar-click) with the slab tool.

Cheers,
Can you make the circle even bigger? It needs to be much bigger than your project otherwise you won't get the effect of a horizon line.

You can also turn off the coloured 'ground' in the photo rendering settings as the big circle should replace this.

Nice image Peter - love your work.

I have done this before with a blue gradiated background from light at the bottom to dark at the top and my mega disc slab had a gradiated green material on the surface. So it went from dark green in the center, to light green at the edges.

Gave quite a nice illusion of distance with just two gradiated materials. Smokes and mirrors.
Hello, I am trying to create the slab with the radial gradient on it. I am having no luck at all. How do you do it?

As you can see from the screen shot I do not have a gradient option. I have tried creating a new material called green gradient but how do I make it a gradient. Thank you.

Also I would like to create the sky with the gradient effect any advice on how to do that would be appreciated.

It seems that every time I change the colour of the background in the 3D window settings box it changes the background colour but then when I click out of the view and back in the change does not stick. Why is this? Thank you for any help that I can get on this.

You will have to use the Fill Tool.
Fills are the only element type that can create a Gradient Fill.

Save your 3d view as a 3d document, you can then add a gradient fill as a sky in the 3d document view.

See below. I've also used the round slab trick. No rendering, just a 3d document view with vectorial hatching and shaded materials option turned on.
Thank you for your replies.

I have been able to create a gradient fill in a 3D document however the result is a poor looking building compared to the 3D view in which the building looks quite good.

The downside with the 3D view is that I can not put the sky gradient in or the earth Gradient in.

The other problem with the radial Gradient for the earth is that I can not make the circular pattern of the gradient oval to create a 3D look.

I am still interested in how the gradient fill was applied to a slab. This would be very useful.

Thank you.
