Hi guys (g'day Wokka),
forget about Renderin, get on with the real stuff, <S></S>http://www.thearender.com<E></E>

Near real time interactive rendering, including DOF, texturing, lighting... absolutely amazing!
Try it and you'll never look back;-)

Cheers
Francois

PS: I forgot to mention it's still in beta and is also available as a plug-in for SketchUp. Did I say it was cheap too...

<R>I'm not a great fan of ArchiCad having a major render engine like Vray etc. But this would be nice....

http://www.renderin.com/

Sketchup gets it again...</R>

Nice, nice, nice.
All the fluidity and consistency of interface that one could possibly desire.
Want a light? Pick ANY object, select the light tool, convert object to a light.
Want to rotate an any object in any axis in 3D? Easy, easy, easy. Intuitive, w-o-w.
All the logic and "culture" of sketch-up in a bang-up radiosity renderer.
I hate the idea of having to switch software again, but change is inevitable.
I hope GS starts fixing the nuts and bolts issues, sooooooooooooooon.

Snap

PS James Murray wrote an article on consistency, everything he asks for...

Glad you posted that. Wouldn't have been aware of it otherwise. It does look nice.

It's interesting that this seems identical to Artlantis in almost every way - from the preview, to the feature set. The sky cloud and sun effects appear identical to Artlantis.

And, the company is in Paris. Hmmm... Could it be a secret Abvent thing to capture the SketchUp market? Or, did someone use the same rendering base engine as Artlantis?

See attached screenshot comparing one Artlantis palette to that in render[in] - note that the cloud sliders are exactly the same, and that the icons at the top, while reordered, are the same as well.

As for "me too" - we already have Artlantis with a clean workflow between AC and it. You really do not want it integrated into AC, I don't think, as Artlantis can be batch rendering with as many cores as you have at the same time as you are working in AC today. If integrated, you have to stop work while things render.

Integrated, you are limited to the capabilities of the SketchUp or ArchiCAD materials dialog. I cannot recall that SketchUp allows for alpha channels / bump / etc?

But, it will all come down to the price of render[in] once the free beta is over, I guess.

Cheers,
Hey Francois, come back, all is forgiven....

Looks nice, I'll have a play this week..

I'm talking about something a bit cleaner, simple, GI, sketch, almost toonish for straight out of Archicad with reasonable speed. Maybe I'm asking too much. Just to give the 'idea' or 'massing' without too much detail. Mixing sketch renders with 'real' renders is a pain. How long have we had sketch rendering and we still can't save the settings....(unless we hack). sorry ranting again...

Maybe I'm just too tired from the weekend.....
Time for a nanna nap...
Cheers
