Hi.

I'm trying to create a design which incorporates wood cladding with planks made from different materials/different shades of wood and arranged in a specific pattern.

I'm trying to achieve an effect similar to these pictures:

I want to control the layout and wood pattern.
How do I achieve this?

If the boards are spaced, you'll model each vertical element for more realism, but you could also make black lines between the boards and use this method:

If the boards are in a flat plane, you could also model them, but you could also create an image, say, in Photoshop with the stripe array colored as you like.

These image textures can be quite large, say 1 metre wide.

Create a new material and apply the image as its texture.

On a slightly seperate topic... how would you go about representing the stonework around the ground floor doors and windows of this Georgian house?

I would make a complex profile wall by drafting a fill describing the mortar joints based on a building elevation [to allow for openings]. The fill becomes the complex profile wall.

The complex profile wall would be drawn perpendicular to the surface of the elevation wall [the one holding the windows] penetrating the required depth.

A Solid Element Operation cleans out the joints. The layer priority for the SEO operator must be higher than the target.
