you can give the heated zones you want to included a unique identifying letter as it's ID then make the presence of that ID letter a criteria for inclusion in the schedule.

<T>I'm attempting to set up a template project with several items on the coversheet automatically generating as the project is input. Is there any way to use the calculations so helpfully provided by the zones to show overall square footages such as:

1rst Floor **** SQ FT
2nd Floor **** SQ FT
Garage **** SQ FT
Total Heated **** SQ FT and so on?

(Or any other technique achieving the same end results?)</T>

You can with the Interactive Scheduler, but you'll need to refer to the manual, as it's too complicated to describe here.

I have a square footage schedule and have manipulated how the quantities are shown and condensed the individual zones to one total for each zone category. Now what I want to do is total just two zone categories (first and second floor) to get my "total heated area". I get the grand total including garage, porch, unfinished space and so on.

Is there a good way to add up living space and place just that total on my cover sheet?

Chris wrote:
you can give the heated zones you want to included a unique identifying letter as it's ID then make the presence of that ID letter a criteria for inclusion in the schedule.

Or better yet,
1. Use (or add) a PARAMETER in the Zone Stamp as one of the parameters in your schedule
2. Set this parameter as the 1st parameter and then set the HEADLINE to ON (this will use the first parameter as a grouping parameter) and thereby you can achieve subtotals for each of the formed groups

**** so you parameter might be USER 1 and you would type in CONDITIONED for the living spaces and UNCONDITIONED for the other spaces. The headline would make your schedule look something like...

CONDITIONED
1st Floor LIVING 1,000sf
2nd Floor Living 500sf
Subtotal 1,500sf

UNCONDITIONED
Garage 800sf
Mech 100sf
Subtotal 900sf

You get the idea?

or better yet create new Zone categories - conditioned and unconditioned then use these as the heading. Avoids creating new parameters...
