AC 11 refuses to prompt for shx files on 2nd AutoCAD import

I have this tested this behavior on two installations of AC 11 and on one of AC10 , and it appears for all versions:

During import of any AutoCAD dwg file , when FIRST imported ArchiCAD prompts for any missing shx fonts and linestyles as expected. If these are skipped for any reason however, there is never a second chance to supply those shx fonts on subsequent imports of that or any other file containing that font, and forever afterwards, the font shows up as a missing font within ArchiCAD, and a default ArchiCAD truetype font is always substituted.

Somehow this "memory" of having skipped a shx file persists, even when ArchiCAD is uninstalled and reinstalled, and with Graphisoft registry entries purged in the mean time.

Has anyone ever noticed and found a workaround for this serious problem?

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you, but your post did make me laugh. I thought that was supposed to be a new feature since I'm always clicking "Skip all"! 🙂

I haven't noticed a problem in ArchiCAD 11, probably because I generally locate the .shx files.

I know that in ArchiCAD 10 if the .shx files are skipped, then the next DWG import would skip the same .shx files. To avoid this you would need to quit and restart the program.

However once imported without the .shx files you can't go back and load them for an already imported DWG as the substitution has happened once and for all, and the information is embedded in the file with the substituted fonts etc. That's just the way it works.

Unfortunately, it goes much further than that - if you skip an shx file, not only the current project but all future projects are forever affected. Restarting ArchiCAD doesn't help, and neither does uninstalling & reinstalling!

Pretty tough break for someone who initially doesn't have the required shx files & so needs to skip through them all to make a list of what they need to ask for.
