There is no "DWF Writer" publishing tool for the Mac that I know of (though there are 100's of 3rd party DWF tools http://dwf.blogs.com/articles/dwf_partners.htm).

There are a few DWF viewers that run on the Mac. Probably the simplest is the Project Freewheel viewer that runs in Firefox on a Mac: http://freewheel.labs.autodesk.com (just hit the fullscreen button).

<T>I have been asked to send consultants drawings in DWF format. Unfortunately have immediately come up against a couple of problems when viewing it in Autodesk Design Review.

A) Can't publish a 'layout' to dwf, only a view. Can only use 'save as' to dwf for a layout, but then the dwf is not to full size (1:1) preventing you from easily measuring off it. If I can't save a layout properly i.e. full size with a titleblock, how am I meant to do it?

B) All continuous linetypes are converted to dashed.

Any ideas? Anything obvious I've missed? Any tricks that people have come across?

Many thanks!</T>

One easy solution is to use the DWF Writer printer driver. With it you can just print as you would normally print to paper and capture the output as a DWF. It is a free download from http://www.autodesk.com/dwfwriter and works with non-Autodesk applications.

There are no news about this problem? I use a Mac and my office is having serious problems trying to send dwf drawing for engineers as well for public approvation. Is exiged by law now in Portugal.

So any solution for the problem with the continuos line turning dashed will be appreciated

A) Publish to DWG, Model space - watch out, the sheet will be the correct size but the placed drawings will NOT be 1:1

Open the DWG in (free) DWGTrueView, export as DWF. This also solves B)

All of the second step above if you are on Windows, of course.

Fire up Windows on your Intel Mac ... ArchiCAD will work the same. Check free tools:

DWG TrueView
DWG True Convert
Autodesk Design Review (has 3D DWF writer, although I did not manage to do anything from ArchiCAD)
DWF Writer

Or buy a cheap Windows machine for the purpose of putting together the submission docs. That is what you get paid for, after all!

One more benefit from using the free tools: if you generate the DWF from DWG TrueView, or convert one AutoCAD version to another, it will not show the infamous "This file is not produced by a trusted Autodesk application .... blah blah" that sets panic into a lot of people.
