DWG TRANSLATOR - PROBLEMS CONVERTING ARCHICAD LAYERS TO DWG

I APOLOGISE FOR THIS QUESTION, WHICH I'M SURE HAS A VERY SIMPLE ANSWER TO.....BUT THE DWG TRANSLATOR (I FIND) TO BE ONE OF THE MOST FRUSTRATING ELEMENTS OF ARCHICAD.

MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I TRANSLATE MY ARCHICAD FILE TO A DWG, THE ONLY LAYERS IT CREATES ARE '0' 'HOTSPOTS' AND 'LINES'.

NO MATTER IF I HAVE THE LAYERS DIALOGUE BOX 'CREATE LAYERS ACCORDING TO:' SET TO ARCHICAD LAYERS....IT STILL CREATES ONLY THE 3 LAYERS MENTIONED ABOVE.

PLEASE HELP ME! THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR ME....IT IS LIKE MY NEMESIS! AND FELLOW STAFF MEMBERS LOOK TO ME TO FIX IT AND I HAVENT A CLUE! ALL I WANT TO DO IS SEND THE DWG'S TO CONSULTANTS WITHOUT THEM YELLING AT ME FOR MAKING IT ALL THE SAME LAYER.!!

I KNOW IT WORKS COS A FEW RARE TIMES I HAVE HAD IT WORK FOR ME......BUT THEN SOMEONE 'ACCIDENTALLY' DELETED MY TRANSLATORS THAT I HAD SAVED!!!!! (BANGS HEAD)

SO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME, BY EITHER EMAILING ME THERE TRANSLATORS OR TELLING ME A TRICK!
(USING A PC AS WELL)

So you're a CAD manager...

Start by turning off your screaming lock.
Then add version and platform info into your signature.
Then tell us what you want to translate, and how you do it now. 2D? 3D? What kind of content? From what (screen)window? What layers do you have? How are they named? What procedure do you use exactly? What translator? What settings?

Then perhaps we can help.

Correct me if I'm wrong, it was many years ago I do my "trial'n'error" test on the translator (best way to learn something is to test all parameters and se what you get), but a totaly clean translator should create same layerstructure in .dwg file as in .pln file?
There must be some missconfiguration in your?

But as Thomas said, we need more information, not just "IT WON'T WORK"

And more, I don't think this thread should be in "Publishing Wishes", it should be in "Data Exchange and Information Sharing", so you can get the help you need. Maybe a moderator move it when they see this.
