Hi All,

Am absolute newbie on ArchiCAD and Artlantis (approx 30hrs worth of practice and learning and an assignment due in in one week!!! ) and desperately need some help.
How do I export layouts from ArchiCAD 12 to Artlantis to Photoshop and back again?

Also, how do I generate a 3D section of a plan in ArchiCAD. So far I have created the elevation, highlighted all and opened in 3D, however this opens the whole building plan only missing a couple of walls so you can see inside.

1: You do not export layouts to Artlantis. You export a 3D view - a model - to Artlantis using a plug-in. "Save As" from the 3D windo.

You do not export your Artlantis file to Photoshop. You create a rendering in Artlantis saved as a Photoshop file - a multi-layered raster image. You can place this image in an Archicad layout like any other file.

2: In Archicad, to slice off the top of a building for a 3D plan view, use the 3D cutaway tool. If you have Artlantis, it is much easier to make a scaled parallel view using the cutaway tool in Artlantis.

Your third question about resolution.

Resolution in Archicad is irrelevant. You just need enough pixels. You can resize and densify the image in Photoshop.

For instance, if you need to make an 8" wide image at 300 dpi, just ask for 2400 pixels and you will be fine.

Renee:

For a perspective section, this can be done by using the heavy marquee, then using the "Show Selection/Marquee in 3D" command. Only the part of the building inside the marquee will appear in the 3D Window.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

In addition, if it was just a line drawing of the plan (not rendered), saving it as a PDF and then importing it into photoshop works well. PS will ask what resolution to convert the PDF into pixels - 200-300 is good.

Yes! Sometimes you have to invent a word.
There has been such a long-lasting confusion over resolution and pixel density, especially with Archicad's intransigent resolution setting methods....

Move the pixels together: densify. Haha.

Hello people, I read that it doesn’t work because laser printers are too hot but my friend apparently did it and worked. I couldn’t find any transfer papers for LaserJet printers. Can I use inkjet transfer paper with laser printer? Has anyone printed on an inkjet transfer paper with laser printer? I don’t have any proper idea about this. So please help me out.
