Numbering

I have a schedule that shows a diagram of the distribution panel. To get the circuits listed in order I have to put zeros in front of single digits (otherwise 11 comes after 1)

I looked at the work environment setting and the project settings for a way to handle numbers and didn't find anything. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Not if the numbers are stored in text fields. (E.g., Custom Text 1, etc.) If stored in numeric fields, then normal numeric sorting happens.

Where are you storing your numbers...ID field, or Custom Text? Of what library part? Just wondering if there is another field that you could switch to in order to get the desired result....

They are stored in the User Defined text field of switches, receptacles and lights I made or in some cases an appliance (dishwasher, water heater, etc.) I renamed "User Defined 1" as "Circuit #" but it was all based on a GS element subtype.

You can just add your own identification field to each of your objects with a numeric type and then include that field in your schedule - it'll sort propertly.

That gives all my items a value of at least 0. I was only assigning a value to the incident used for the home run. Don't see a way to make zero values an exception for a parameter in the scheme settings. I'll think on it some more and come up with something.

Out of ideas at the moment... but your example is another reason for the longtime wish for better formatting control for schedules. If we had format fields like in Excel, it would be easy to have zeroes print as blanks (and negatives as red or in parentheses), and all kinds of other things...
