<T>Hi...

Is there a way where I can export the schedule we have generated...
then open it in another program (i.e. excel)
edit the data
then reimport it back to repopulate the schedule fields?

I see the Schedule exports into xml
I can open xml in excel but it doesnt retain its layout
ideally i would like to open xml in another program
edit fields and then reimport the xml back to archicad</T>

You have several options.

With the schedule displayed, you can use File >Save As and saved to Tabbed Text, which will open properly in Excel.

From Publisher, you can publish the schedule as a List. Same thing.
Works fine for me on Mac. Save As dialog format choices attached. Did not try on XP to see if the Office formats are available. (Tabbed text is adequate.)
I've had it work in the past, no problem -- now in AC12, nothing happens when I click File > Save As. In AC11, it crashes if the IS contains a list of more than 200 or so elements. I'm in BIG TROUBLE, because we're putting together a rather large FF&E package -- all of my previous tests worked when listing fewer than 200 elements, now that the project has begun and we have about 1000 elements per Story, I can't get it to work in AC11 (crashes) nor AC12 (nothing happens)...
Karl

Karl, since you ask...
I've often wished we could import/export xml files. This comes up often when working with a team. Some team members are doing tasks that involve schedules such as furniture and other specs. They shouldn't have to learn archicad to do this, nor do we want them tying up a license. We would like to be able to export a file such as a furniture or equipment schedule and have them as part of their work edit it as they add cost, spec the items etc. Then we would like to import their changes/updates back into the main archicad [BIM] file.
We can export a schedule as an xml file as you note, but we can't import back the xml file into archicad.
Care to whip up an add-on?
