You will get a better answer if you describe the type of work you do and how the add-on is intended to support that work.

Objective is great tool but it have (archicad) fundamental modeling commands

Archiforma is clasic modeler and have more modeling commands

You can model most stuff in objective but sometimes thats a real p.i.a

did you ever try to model lets say round handrail on stairs with Objective
If you did then you know that you will losse a lot of time bending and cuting...moving trough archicad clumsy 3d...section and plan window

That task will be finish in archiforma in 1 min cos i will draw section of profile and i will EXTRUDE it by its path !

archiforma have more advencing modeling tools and you can finish more modeling taks faster comparing to Objective.

These 2 are great and more modeling stuff can be finished in archiforma then in objective but if objective get some new commands...then it will be a differnet story.

Weakest thing in all this story is ArchiCad. AC limits both addons as long as archicad cant display trully sections of round objects it cant be correct architect tool.

If you want to model a building parts then you can take Objective
If you want to model a building parts and MORE then you can take Archiforma

Price:

ArchiForma 2
ArchiCAD plug-in for the creation of objects.
Available for ArchiCAD 8.1, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.
New Installation Euro 240,00.
Compatibility Update depending on your ArchiCAD version:
- from ArchiCAD 12 Euro 25,00;
-from previous ArchiCAD Euro 35,00.
Version Update from ArchiForma 1 Euro 144,00.

OBJECTIVE
Single License
US$300
i think this addon is free for update which is +

Correct - we don't charge just to recompile for new ArchiCAD versions (and maintain feature parity from ArchiCAD 8.1 to 13). You don't need a dongle for OBJECTiVE either, so installation and licence management is really easy. And purchasing multiple licenses is significantly discounted.

Hi Necko
Great detailed review.
Certainly both are highly recommend here on the forum.

However I was interested in your experience with
what commands did you mean by:" but if objective get some new commands..".

Because of your independent view, what would your first 3 choices (in the order of priority for you) would you like to see added?
Maybe Ralph would take it to heart (if they are really needed) and finally get me to hop off the virtual fence.
Thanks
As i write before, archicad is limiting both addons and we can seee that archicad cant rotate objects without some addon, cant represent accurate section of rounded object, etc etc When GS team improve archicad in anyway we will felt it simultaneously in our modeling possibilitys. WE will become more efficient and we will not use workarounds.

missing commands that will speed up modeling tasks in it.
These commands are :
objective:
First off all i want to know when i take some profile (regular profile),
around what point will this object tilt and rotate. When i place regular profile on floor and i add tilt angle from menu i always get suprised by that what side of object will stay in place and what side will tilt. different color of spots or something like that would be good

When i use rounded object and i set faciting 0 i get too many spots (probably archicad fault)

When i strech object on floor sometimes object jump and change location
volumen and area of object /more info about object on screen, like little window in which we keep entering lenght, angle but with some info. I alys have to go to menu and change there parametars so some basic should be alysw on screen and changble on the fly ofc)
im missing extrude trough the path
Loft command
Sweep command
surface commands (ruled surface,gordon surface,translation
surface,coons surface,tappered section piping,multiple
section piping,simple section piping)
move,delete,add nodes
copy,edit, in sections
different materials of every side of every object - if i draw cube and i want different colors on every side . . . i cant get it in objective. This is possible in archiforma.

most of these commands allready exist in zoomgdl (old modeler) and if you could put any of these in your addons gentlaman that would be super !

some commands allready exist and some dont.
On pic is shown some line that is missing when object is bend in objective and there is no hotspots at the end of the rounded object (mybe ac fault

Hi Necko,

Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to use ZoomGDL. It seems that it had a lot of handy tools. Its really a pity it passed away.
Can you tell me if it could link a certain parameter with any geometry? Like grasshopper do?

BTW. Thanks for your insights on Objective X ArchiForma. Very useful.

Cheers,
if you know GDL then zoomgdl is right tool. COs you could draw there shapes and later in gdl you could easily create intelegence objects. You can put intelgence parametart in zoom gdl allready.
this is a pic of a box that i created in zoomgdl and then imported in ac 13. You see that cube was draw with block command.
i checked this program longtime before and i seee what can be draw with gdl. Than i can say that GS really dont want to improve ac.
Everything is possible to draw with this commands so now we ask people from Objective and Cigraph to help us. If they can use some of this it would be great.

GS team could done this years before and we woudnt have these problems now. I put blame on GS...they simply dont share our vision.
