<T>I'm working on a BIM model with a large GC and we've been back and forth on getting the origins to match-up between the CAD backgrounds, my BIM work and the consultants models. He's asked me to export the modelas a .dwg file so he can open it in Navisworks. We've discovered that using the "inch" unit of measurement is the correct setting in the DWG Translation Set-up. The problem is that neither of us can determine why the origin that was established in AC will not translate when opened in Navisworks. Is their some setting in the DWG Translation Set-up menu that I'm not clicking that will allows the origin to remain in the original location even when saved as a .dwg? I have NavisWorks Jetstream v5 so I'm trying to figure out what's getting lost between .pln and .dwg conversion. I'm using AC10 and I understand earlier versions of AC actually had a NavisWorks file extension you could save as.</T>

If the GC wants the model I'm not sure dwg will do it. I did this with a GC during the pricing of a project about a year ago and if I'm not mistaken he used IFC and the AC model came in pretty well. If you want, PM me I can get you the name & number of that GC's tech so your GC's tech can visit with him. He has been doing this in Navisworks from many different programs for several years now.
AC10 also has the ability to export Navis files. I believe you can ge the add-on from the Navisworks site.

Ah...you jogged my memory.. that was how he did it... but the plugin is only for the PC side. I let the GC install a copy of AC on his PC and let him borrow a dongle for a while so he could make the transfer(s).
And it was 10 that we were using.
