You don't have one.

It can be quite simple:
-open an already placed zonestamp
-select it
-Open it, via File / Libiraries and Objects / Open Object
-It will automatically open at the parameters section
-add a new parameter, give it a name, for instance CustomParam1, choose the abc-type
-Make more parameters
-Save the object, by the regular save button

In the zone-stamp now add your data in your new parameters

In the schedule, open the scheme settings, and add additional parameters in the fields-section.

John, it looks like you're scheduling doors, not zones, but I still have 10 custom fields available.

Just opened v.11 and yes, there are only 3 custom fields. Looks like the old door parts were written that way and unless you want to open them up and customise them, that's probably how it will have to be. Either that, or it's $$$ to upgrade.

OT: Got a call from my reseller yesterday asking if I wanted to move to 15. Still waiting for a compelling enough reason (or price) because I'm quite happy with 13 at the moment. Renovation workflow in 15 sounds really good but I can get by with the old methods as my projects aren't too large.

I think that I've discovered how to add more custom columns (fields) to the door and window schedules in ArchiCAD 11. Here is what worked for me.

1) open the DOOR SCHEDULE from the Project Map.
2) open Scheme Settings in the upper right corner.
3) open Additional Parameters in the lower right corner.
4) in the Additional Object Parameter window change the view to Folder View (Used Objects Only).
5) expand the list: ArchiCAD Library 11 list/Object Library 11.lcf/Doors 11/Wood-Plastic Doors 11/Wood Internal Doors
6) select D1 11.gsm (this door is common in this project)
7) scroll down the Available Parameters list until you get to the User Defined parameters (there were 8 additional user defined parameters available)
8 ) add as many User Defined parameters as you want
9) click OK to accept the additional parameters
10) adjust the order of the Schedule Fields
11) click OK to accept the customization of the Scheme Settings
12) rename the column titles
13) add text in the column cells as needed
14) adjust the width of the columns
15) adjust the width of the schedule to fit on the sheet
16) drag the DOOR SCHEDULE from the Project Map to the desired layout
17) make any adjustments needed to the schedule in the Scheme Settings view and update on the schedule in the layout view
18 ) repeat for the Window Schedule

We have needed this level of customization for our door and window schedules for some time now.

Next step is to figure out how to make other interactive and customizable schedules. I would like to have interactive and customizable schedules for finishes, appliances, plumbing, lighting, cabinets and hardware.

Someday I would like to be able to drag an item from a manufacturer's website right into ArchiCAD and have the object appear correctly in the plans, elevations and schedules--someday...

Hi John,

I'm sorry that I and others didn't see your post from 2 years ago! What you discovered is the standard way of adding additional columns since we first got the interactive schedule feature many years ago.

It's important to post your question in the proper forum - scheduling questions into the "Schedules" forum. <E>😉</E> I'm moving this thread there now...
Aloha,
Thanks Karl,
I hadn't noticed that there was a Schedules section in the forum.

There are three User Defined fields in the standard door or window schedule.

Is this the best way to get additional User Defined fields in a door or window schedule?

It looks like the Additional Parameters settings window offers eight more User Defined fields.

Is there any way to get more User Defined fields than the three and the additional eight?

Hey John,

First - for anyone using current versions of AC, you can mostly ignore the details here, as AC 11 does not handle User Defined fields the same way as say 16 or 17. Not sure in which version things changed without launching them all...

In AC 11, the General group only has 3 User Defined fields and you have to go through the Additional Parameters, as you did, to get more... and then there appear to be up to 8.

In AC 16, there are 10 User Defined fields in the General group, so no extra digging is required to add additional text columns to a schedule. (See attached.)

The easiest way to get more fields is to upgrade to the current release; the most costly method now, especially after the June 1 price increases in the US.

The problem that you MAY run into by going into the Additional Parameters to pick up the User Defined fields... is that if you schedule doors (e.g.) that are not programmed the same so that all doors, say, do not share the exact same-named User Defined parameters ... then the entries for those doors will not be editable. That's one of the things that Graphisoft improved after 11 by making the User Defined fields common fields that show up in the General group as in the screenshot.

The only way to add more than the GS library provides (3 + 5 in your version of AC 11, and 10 in AC 16, US lib) - is to edit the subtype and add the additional fields. For example, in your 11 US library, "Door 10" is the subtype for many (not all - see previous paragraph) doors. So, if you open and edit that subtype template, you can add additional parameters which magically become part of all objects based on that subtype. The process is complex and error prone for the non-GDL programmer so I'm not going to take the time to give details here - basically you'd have to unpack you LCF library so that it is editable and go from there. You asked for easy, and this probably wouldn't qualify as that.

Cheers,
Karl

PS A pet peeve, for which I don't recall us having a wish, is that the fields such as in the attached screenshot have never been alphabetical... makes it a real pain to page through a long parameter list.
