If you have the beams in a layer with an "Intersection Priority Number" of 0 (zero) then they will not intersect.

You can control the IPN with you layer combinations so if you want them to intersect in one view they can and then you can have them not intersect in another view.
excellent, thanks for that... one last questions

im trying to get a list that will list all the beams and joist.
im having trouble getting it to list multiple items as a single entry

for example i have these HJ300 joists seen in the attachment in red.
they are all identical but it lists them separately and gives them a quantities of 1..

so 14 beams all the same, listed separately.

now when i click the "SHOW UNIFORM ITEMS AS SINGLE ENTRY"

it combines them as one entry and 14 as the quantity which is great, but it also combines the length in to a total.. which to me and every other person would read that list as "14 units 62.97m long each" which is incorrect.. anyway to have it combine the 14 units but keep the actual individual unit length size?>?? kinda makes the quantity column useless if it s unable to do so???

bummer.

iv set the Intersection Priority Number to zero like you mentioned.. but it seems that as i work and come back to the floor framing layer that some of the beams are ending up intersecting and some are staying un intersected. even though they were all un intersected in the beginning.

i pull them apart again and over time they end up back being intersected after being untouched

Interesting.
It seems a beam will always grow so that the reference lines touch if you draw one beam just touching the side of the other.
Even if you have the layer intersection priority number set to 0 and the "Clean wall and beam intersections" turned off.

But if you force the beam to stop at the side of the other beam then it shouls stay there regardless of what you do.

I have tried similarly to do what you are trying to do - If you find an answer, please post it.
I did find this however -
And probably more - however associated, but not specifically an answer.
But helpful I found.

Locally - my support - have no answers either .(Well for me it seems.)
A bit knowledge in GDL and calculating script, then you could get amazing result from ArchiCad, schedules are too basic but you get data very quickly that way from your model.
