total area of fills

hello,

from memory it was at some stage possible to do the following:

1. select fills in plan;

2. go to windows > palettes > element information;

3. select the area in plan icon, and get the overall total area of all selected fills;

all we seem to get now is a list of individual items, i.e. no computation of overall totals.

were we just dreaming or did this actually never work?

I don't recall if this used to work the way you are stating it or not, but remember that you can also schedule Fills to get the result you want.

thanks for your reply laszlo - yes we know about the 'elements list', but just wondered if we were daydreaming back then... ;0)

Just for fun, I checked it as far as back as in AC9 and there was no summary of all fill areas even back then.
Which sounds logical too me because if you have many elements of different element type, like 3 Walls, 4 Columns, 5 Fills, then how would that summation work?

May I ask how to schedule Fills area with the specific element ID in a elevation view?

You can't schedule fills in elevation.

Schedules can only list elements that can be seen in the plan views.

say I have 4 fills in a elevation and there element ID named with "color A", in the north elevation. I want to use the List function of AC to calculate all the "color A" fills' area (sum value).

If you are talking about the old List functions (20 years old and they haven't been updated since then - but yes they do still work), you might want to start a new topic or find one related to the List functions.

This one is about the Element Information palette, not lists or schedules.

OK then. But schedule can't do fills (in elevation) area sum ,so I think of the old list function.
