Sketchup to archicad import faces not co-planer

HI All forgive me for my ignorance I am a new user . I have been using Sketchup for some time now and have it mastered but I am bummed by the documentation side. I am now using Archicad (if you could call it using) and imported a very simple Sketchup model and all of the faces (walls and roof are not co-planer.
Its almost as if the import has pushed the top over and left the bottom where it was.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you post a screenshot of what you get in Archicad after importing a model?

Which version of Sketchup and Archicad are you using?

unless you import your model as a 3ds file and activate "force smooth" in the import dialogue box...i' can't see another solution...

Thanks for the input I will try it
I wanted to import several doors that I already have drawn into archicad and use them to show my clients how that actual product will look on their house.
I know when i render the model in archicad it works fine. is it normal for this to happen.
I watched a video made my Archicad that shows import of Sketchup models without this issue. I have 24 days left of my trial. I guess I may have to consider another product, Its a shame as Archicad is easier to use than revit.
I would also like to import several jobs I have at design stage and trace over but it is very hectic with all of these lines....
I know for sure the skethcup models faces are in plane. It appears as though Archicad import is skewing the model

I must admit that the video I watched was in Archicad 11, Maybe I should try get a copy of Archicad 11 and then export and put in 15. Is that possible?

Thanks for the advice and please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am learning reasonably fast but always get a few small problems. I exported from Sketchup as a 3ds file but when I go to import the file there is no 3ds option. I am guess I have to down load a plug in? I will check on line. Can you let me know if I am overlooking something?

in the help menu you should have access to the add-on web page...there, you will find the 3ds import add-on.

Thanks I found it and Imported the model and it is all ok
There must be a bug in the Sketchup import plugin.

TMA_80 you are a good man
It works well with the add on. I have moved past that a fair way and now I have been importing windows. I would like to be able to import a window and have it cut a hole in the wall. From what I understand this requires GDL coding. can any one tell me where I can find the information required to get these wheels in motion
I would like to convert my entire library. I have had some help form Shrinivaz but he is not sure of the best way to go.

I know this is an old thread but I have just tried to import from sketchup and found exactly the same problem..the planes are not co-planar. I have followed the advice in the thread, to export from sketchup in 3ds format but I cannot find the dialogue box or smoothing menu referred to in the thread. I too am using sketchup 8 pro and ArchiCAD 15

Look for 3d studio in addon and follow install instructions.

If you don't use international version of archicad, go to Help > ArchiCAD 15 downloads.

Sorry I should have explained...I opened archiCAd for the first time yesterday. I do not have a clue what you are talking about. Can you explain in idiots language please.

When I try to import a sketchup file in 3ds format I get an error message:"can't open 3Dstudio file in this dialogue". Also I cannot find the download section in help of archCAD 15
