May be the AutoCAD version in the DWG translation setup, did you check which version you are exporting to and the version your consultants were using?

<T>Have used the DWG "for further editing" translator for years, but now have been told by others that they can't open my files. Is it a problem between old autocad versions and AC14? Is there something I need to change in my setup?</T>

Aside from exporting to the correct Autocad version, The Keep Pen Index Number (KPIN) translator is the only one allowing for consistent round-trips. It is recommended to make your pen sets compatible with the Autocad user's too.
