Surveyor's 3D inofrmation & Z Value

Hi.
Do you guys ever use the 3D information that your surveyor inputs into his DWGs?

Like our surveyor inputs the Z height for each of his contours.
I am wondering if there is a way to use that information in archicad when I am amking my meshes, or not.

If your surveyor dwg file contains 3d points... Yes there is...
If I well remember AutoCad... (My last version was 2000) You can select all the points and list them with its coordinates xyz...
Then select the listed coordinates and save it as a txt file with coordinates delimited by commas...
By now... to use this txt file to generate a mesh you will need ArchiTerra...
But I have created this wish related with this matter some time ago...

I think Constructor already had this feature of importing XYZ points to create mesh.

Hi,

Even though I never tested it with a CSV file (xyz data file), here is how you can import XYZ data into Constructor.

Also you can export to XYZ data from your mesh.

This is real good news!...
A basic feature like this would have saved lots and lots of time for a great part of us...
Can you tell us when this feature became available in Constructor?
Perhaps someone in GS could give us some thoughts on when it will be available in AC...

Hi Paulo,

I am not sure since how long this feature is available in Constructor, I am new to it. Perhaps GS can make this feature available to us like a Goodie, we don't have to buy a plugin to import XYZ data, since this is already available and I don't think this will require a lot of work to make it also avaiable in ArchiCAD as well.

Site Survey for ArchiCAD is available from Vico. Version 11 of course, as for unfathomable reasons the Vico suite 2009 is based on 11 instead of 12.

Yep.

Although, it does something else ... connects you to the Total Station for example and you can set any point to be checked on site and/or site point to be checked in the project.

Afraid we are stuck with ArchiTerra ...

... and as for the Constructor, the MEP was also there since the beginning ...

Related to this, is there a way to take the metric point elevations from my surveyor and use them directly in my imperial unit drawing? I have the metric DWG xrefed into the drawing, but the elevation points are in metric and I don't know of any method to transfer those values correctly into my mesh.

Set the working units of your drawing to metric.
Input the surveyors dimension into the mesh and then change back to imperial.

I eventually was able to make that method work for me. Afterward, my surveyor sent me two DXF files (TIN). One was 3D faces, the other 3D lines. I wasn't able to test them, but maybe your surveyor could send you something similar for you to try?
