IFC export - hangs on "exporting elements phase 2"?

so we have AC17.
exporting a small portion of a complexily (sp?) shaped theater model (we are exporting 1/2 of the model cause the other half is identical) and the IFC export hangs on "Exporting Elements....Phase 2"?

What is causing this?
how do I fix it?
what translator should I be using?

We are exporting to an MEP sub so I'm using the MEP IFC translator....thanks in advance.

Hello Rob,
I checked your model, and the IFC export process hangs because of a faulty beam element. If you look for the beam with B?13 ID on the First Floor, it does not have a geometry because its profile is empty (40 x 18 Stl Beam). We will improve ArchiCAD to handle this kind of issues, until then I suggest deleting that beam or fixing its profile.

if the entire BIM community could realize what excellent support service GS has....you all would be dominating the BIM market place.......instead of (ahem) the other guy.
