For more elaborate functions you may need the more elaborate quantifier stuff, and perhaps even properties parts, but that is not for the faint of heart. You need to be more specific about what you seek to do in order to know what you need to use. The details will depend on exactly how you have your parts set up. You may want to get Eric Wilk's book "From CAD to Quantity Survey" as the quantities jungle is a strange and mysterious place.
