Autodesk has a free program called DWG TrueView.
In this program you can convert DWG files to earlier DWG versions.
You may try to convert it to DWG 2004 and work with that.
Just an idea.

<T>I'm having problem with attaching dwg as x-ref or external drawing that I had no problems with in AC12. The dwg´s are AutoCad 2009 and the only way to use them is to explode all and purge.
The translators I used are set exactly the same in 12 as in 13.
Anyone recognize this?</T>

Thank´s for the tip but the 2004-file from DWG-TV still needs to be exploded and purged in an Autocad app (in my case Autocad LT).

I need to clarify that the files originate from disciplines that use like Magicad and stuff.
