Hi,

I also tried to save out a 3ds file for import into sketchup but the 3ds file that is saved is simple text format? Could anyone tell me what I am missing here?

<R>hi there,
ive tried to export a Archicad file(3D model) into a DWG and bring in into 3Ds max, but the model is only show as a 2D plan rather than the whole actual file. so im wondering is a 3d Archicad file can actually work in 3ds Max and sketchup.

hope someone can confirm this to me. thanks</R>

FYI you have to be in the 3d window to export as 3ds, maybe that's what you are missing.

I prefer to export the model via materials as it gives option to change the materials easily in Max.

Some notes by Graphisoft on conversion units.

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archi ... ormat.html">http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archicad/archiguide/unitsin3DSformat.html</LINK_TEXT>

Also here is a plugin that will help you, not sure if it works with the latest version.
