Is there a Revit family to Graphisoft object converter? Or what is the best way to do that?

If Revit can export to .3DS or 3D .DWG format you can bring those file formats into ArchiCAD as .GDL objects.

Revit Families don't have the scripting power that ArchiCAD GDL has, and those formats come into AC as "dumb" objects (without parameters). Once the objects are in AC, you can edit the GDL scripting to add parameter options.

In the last seven years, there have been a lot of changes in both products. With so many companies creating RVT objects over GDL objects, is there a way to convert those RVT files so that us AC users can benefit from the objects these companies are making??

I already responded to this over here. While I doubt there is a direct way to convert Revit families to functional GDL parts (ie with parametrics), I am reminded that GS has done this in part through the IFC add-ins for Revit that allow conversion of MEP parts quite successfully. So I suppose there may be a way.

Trying to convert Revit families to ArchiCAD GDL is like trying to morph Lego into Mechano.

Best bet is to export to DWG then import. Other functional pathways are IFC and SAT files. A dwf converter (I mean 3D) would be great as the dwf format is incredibly light and retains much of the parametric data (not dynamicly though). Revit does not export 3ds (as suggested above) it uses PBX (another 3D studio format)

The MEP converter back into ArchiCAD does a pretty good job, though there are many configurations not supported by ArchiCAD and several broken GDL objects. I am sure that the MEP functionality will improve with subsequent releases of ArchiCAD as the MEP tool is very new.

There isn't really a good way to do this. and I don't see there being a way in the near future. The best thing to do is encourage the manufacturer to release ArchiCAD objects as well. If it makes your life easier there's no reason they wouldn't want to 😉

Old thread but I'll just note that the the most recent RFA & RVT Geometry Exchange Add-on for Archicad is version 24 as of this writing. I use V25 but have a copy of V24 and was able to bring in a RFA object and then open the saved GSM in V25. So, in my test at least, it worked.

Version 25 has the geometry exchange included as part of the program (Archicad) installation.

So there is no need for a separate add-on any more.
