<T>Is there a way of showing the area of walls less the openings?
I have tried all the options in the wall schedule & searched the forum.
This would be a great time saver for me when doing thermal calculations.</T>

Where do you want to show it? In an Elevation? Or in Schedule?
In Schedules there are such available parameters, check the following web page:

<LINK_TEXT text="http://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/guides ... arameters/">http://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/guides/archicad-17-int-reference-guide/virtual-building/archicad-model-views/interactive-schedule/element-listing-parameters-in-the-interactive-schedule/wall-listing-parameters/</LINK_TEXT>

The "Net Surface Area on the Inside Face" and "Net Surface Area on the Inside Face" can both give the needed result (in theory).

However, I just found that
the "Net Surface Area on the Inside Face" gives an incorrect result for me when the Reference Line is on the Outside Face of the Wall and
the "Net Surface Area on the Outside Face" gives an incorrect result when the Reference Line is on the Inside Face of the Wall.

It seems to me that ArchiCAD adds the surface are of the two side edge surfaces to it unnecessarily (AC17 b6004 INT). I will forward this issue to Graphisoft.

Thanks Laszlo
In elevation or schedule would do nicely.
I had tried the "analytic surface area of openings" field in the schedule, but the field shows 0.00 no matter how may windows I put in the wall.
But it does work when I place a door!

Rogerdodge,
Have a look at the settings in 'Calculation Rules'.
These affect whether openings of a certain size are deducted or not.
Your window areas may be smaller than the size allowed for deductions.

Options menu > Project preferences > Calculation Units and Rules then press the Calculation Rules button.
Laszlo,
Please do report it.
We have had a big discussion about it in the developers forum.
The new PBC feature has completely messed up take-offs - especially surface areas.
Yes, I did.
I sent them a simple PLA file with a single 1x3x5 meter Wall with a 1x2 meter Door in it, and with a single Schedule. Very plain to see that it is a bug.

In Elevation there is a new Label called "Generic Label 18". You can display Wall Surface Areas with it in Elevations too. See the attached screenshot.
Unfortunately, this is new so it was not available in previous versions.

For previous versions you might want to check out the Label Everything object from Masterscript:

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.masterscript.nl/home/13-labe ... thing.html">http://www.masterscript.nl/home/13-label-everything.html</LINK_TEXT>

I think it should work with AC SE 2014 because that one is based on AC17.
