iVisit3D offers augmented reality (via gyroscope and compass) static panoramas...which can be linked together to navigate a scene. This is similar to what we used to have in ArchiCAD with Quicktime VR's.

You can have a very rich, textured virtual environment because it is rendered with Artlantis... but it is just a VR, while BIMx presents the entire 3D model for you to freely navigate.

Another factor is that Artlantis can handle hugely complex models, while there's definitely a limit to how much model you can shoe-horn into BimX. I also think the iVisit viewer might be easier for a client to understand and use. The BimX interface can be rather challenging to some and there's still something a little clunky about the way you move around, bumping into walls and things. You also have better control over what the client sees in an iVisit presentation.

But going off on a tangent, the effectiveness of static panoramas is always going to be greatly weakened by the fact that they cannot show parallax. The way things shift in space in relation to each other and to a moving viewer is one of the things the brain processes to create depth in perspective, probably more important than even stereoscopic vision. I think BimX just lights up more areas of the brain than iVisit. But maybe that's just brain damage from bumping into all those walls.
