<R>I found the Culprit and to fixed it..

trying to export DXF for CNC (Machine cutting) it all depends on the layer that you use in archicad however archicad13 as a default exports the layer that i need and adds some other info to the layer name that i don't want.

I created the layer 'FK'

When I create the DXF for the machine, archicad saves it as into something like 'FK_pen_0_1' therefore CNC can't read it.

So i found the solution in the file, file special, dxf-dwg translation setup.
on '01 for further editing' drop down the tab 'settings in seleceted translator' then across to the 'create layers according to' and make sure it says 'archicad layers'

i could have spent hours thinking it was my CNC program that was at fault and not importing properly and would never have considered for a second that Archicad deliberately changed the layer names of what you were exporting. it's just weird.
