David,

Thanks for the suggestion. I was actually getting an error on open, sorry for the lack of proper information. See screen grab of error message...

I also tried the earlier suggestion of using Graphic Converter. It does give me something to look at but rather garbled and all text is backwards. Maybe I received faulty .PLT files?
Open the .plt file with 'GraphicConverter.' It's been bundled in with other Apple operating software for several years.

If not bundled; it can be located here: http://www.lemkesoft.com/

Open the file, then print as usual, using the 'save as PDF' feature.

I use this every now and then for HP files or other plot files for converting them to PDFs.

Hope this helps.
If you pay the shareware fee (highly recommended) you can also batch process files. Graphic Converter is perhaps the greatest piece of shareware ever.

I just copied this to the Tips forum ... but then followed the link and do not see PLT as a supported format:

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.lemkesoft.com/content/143/im ... rmats.html">http://www.lemkesoft.com/content/143/import-and-export-formats.html</LINK_TEXT>

Could you verify if the current version allows for the conversion?

Thanks,
I have version 5.4.1 Rev2 dating back to 2005.

It opens .plt files just fine; Including ones generated the other day.

Edit; just checked the page link above and down the page is;
<S></S>
"HP-GL/2 Vector images. This format is normally used from plotters."<E></E>

End edit....

Every now and then I get a plt instead of a pdf from a contractor and this program opens them up and displays the graphics just like a pdf.

It's a real 'can-opener!'
Ah....in versions of ArchiCAD before V10, where plotmaker was a stand alone program, plt files would not import accept as gibberish if you could get ArchiCAD to open the .plt at all.

Since we no longer use plotmaker, I never thought to try ArchiCAD. In doing so, it appears that Brad's suggestion really works!

ArchiCAD is indeed an interesting graphic utility as well as a CAD/BIM design program.

Make sure that the Enable pop-up at the bottom of the Open dialog box is set to All Files (or HPGL File).

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
Larry:

That would be my guess. You could have the files resent, I usually zip files as this seems to help them get through the internet in better shape. Or depending on your needs, a different file format might be more useful.
