ARCHICAD can handle only a single building. This is why when you are importing an IFC file that has multiple sites and/or building stored in it, this Dialog comes up where you have to select which building within the IFC file you wish to import.
(Of course you can merge multiple building from an IFC file one by one to the same ARCHICAD file.)

There is a clip which talks about a new feature in ARCHICAD 19 that makes the IFC export of complex projects more intelligent. Maybe it is what you are looking for:

<T>Well, there's something i've been trying to do for quite some time now, which is create separate buildings and map specific IFC elements inside those. This way, i could create a global file and map everything before exporting IFC to check stuff into Solibri.
There's an image attached which shows multiple buildings, but there's no way to click on the IFC manager and create a new one.

Has anyone tried anything similar?</T>
