Laszlo. I didn't realise that Classification and Properties are included in project settings. Thanks for pointing it out.

<T>When i create a new file using AC23 and the latest project settings it doesn't take all of the classifications and properties with it. Is this supposed to happen? I know that i can import the properties again and then relink them, but it just seems unnecessary as it recreates all other attributes.</T>

Classification and properties are part of the template. You can export/import them between projects.

The "Latest Project Settings" option means those settings that existed in your last opened Project File. So if Classifications and Properties were not complete in that file, that is what you get in the newly created Project as well.
If you choose a default ARCHICAD Template you will have all Classifications and Properties that come with ARCHICAD.

But they are complete in the latest file... AC just doesn't transfer either the classifications or the property list.
Or is it just me? Yes, the template method works well, it just means I have to clean it out.

Vistasp,
Yes, because after all they are all Project Files, both the template File and the latest Project File, and they both include Classification and Properties.

DWilson,
So did you open the Project File you want to use the Properties from, and export them from the Property Manager?
Then in the new file, did you import the that exported Properties XML file in the Property Manager?

DWilson,

I am just rereading your original post, and the Title says "IFC Properties".
IFC Properties are different from Properties.
Which one are you talking about?
Could you post a screenshot?

Yes sorry for the confusion. I mean properties and the classifications. I open the file I want to create a new file from. Then new file from latest project settings. Then in the new file I need to import the properties and classifications via xml because they aren't carried across. Then because they're considered new properties I have to remap them to the classification.
Or I just copy the file and delete the unnecessary information. Have you noticed this before?

Yes, so when there are no Properties and Classifications, of course, the Classification information will be missing from Element Settings Dialogs. So, when you import these, the Classifications have to be re-set in Settings Dialog.

However, I just checked this situation and I find it curious that when I create a New Project based on Latest Project Settings, the Properties and Classifications are not coming through.
I tend to think that this is a bug because I had the understanding that Properties and Classifications are stored in the Project File, just like Attributes.
So I will check with GS HQ to see if this is a feature or a bug.
