<T>Hi,

I've got a problem while exporting dwg files from layout book. I want to send to the model space in Autocad with the layers I've used in Archicad.

I couldn't find the correct translation setup. Does anyone have an idea about this?</T>

As I recall there is a setting to export visible layers only. You should describe your problem in more detail to get a more helpful response.

Sorry about insufficient info about my problem. I will try to describe it in details now.
Actually my problem is about layer names. I've set all my layer names according to our company standards in Archicad. If I export them from plan view my layer names goes to DWG with the same names. I mean in plan view there is no problem.
Example:
Exterior Wallls --> Exterior Walls
Furnishing       --> Furnishing

But when I try to export from layout book, all my layers unites in one layer called "Archicad layer 0". I want all layers to keep their names in DWG format also.
Example:
Exterior Wallls --> Archicad layer 0
Furnishing       --> Archicad layer 0

And another point is that I want to export to Model Space in Autocad.

Thanks in Advance.

I am guessing that your drawings are placed on the ArchiCAD layer in the layouts (this is what I do). I haven't had to publish DWGs from layouts in 10 yet so I am not sure, but I believe there is a setting for making the model space/paper space distinction. I seem to remember an option to flatten and crop the drawings into paper space or save them into model space with viewports in the layouts.

bilgimat wrote:
And another point is that I want to export to Model Space in Autocad.

The easiest way to export editable dwgs in model space is simply to export your model (from the floor plan view), not the layout.

But if you necessarily have to do this from the layout, you will have to modify your translator settings. When you export, open the translator settings in the export dialog, and right-click on different options to access the context-sensitive help. It's quite good.

To get the model layers in model space that you want, you must export them to model space separately from the layout (like above OR below!). If you just use the "Model Space as Flattened Drawing" setting, you will get the layout and its layers in model space but not your model's layers!

You'll have to use either
Paper Space with Cropped Drawings’ content:
or
Paper Space with Full Drawings’ content:

And (I cite directly from the Help file)
"In case of the latter two choices, the Place Drawings into field will become enabled, where you can choose how placed Drawings should be saved. There are two choices:
• Single DXF/DWG file: All drawings (either cropped or in Full – depending on the value of the Save Layout into field) are saved into a single DXF/DWG file. They will be placed side by side in the Model Space of the file, and View Ports will be created in the Paper Space of this resulting AutoCAD drawing so in Paper Space they will look like the Layout in ArchiCAD.
• Linked XREF drawings: A DXF/DWG file will be saved. In this file there will be placement references to XREF files. All files will be saved in other separate DXF/DWG files and these files will be placed in the first DXF/DWG file as XREFs. They will be placed side by side in the Model Space of the first file, and View Ports will be created in the Paper Space of this resulting AutoCAD drawing so in Paper Space they will look like the Layout in ArchiCAD"

The "other separate" files mentioned should be model space dwgs with correct layers.

Please note that this is how it <S></S>should<E></E> work. I have not tested it very much. I usually either export to model space from my floor plan (model), if we're sending work back and forth, or I export layouts complete as drawings if they're just to be viewed, in which case I use Model Space as Flattened Drawing. These ways seem to be compatible with how most of my consultants work.

Sorry for being redundant. But I had already wasted my negative energy in another thread, where I just replied "Do a search" (without adding "you stupid fool you " )
