import RVT files?

I am new to archicad. I tried search for a way to import REVIT bim objects into Archicad 21. (RVT files), since those are the most common format supplied by product makers.

Is this possible, without having revit installad and converting those to IFC?

Welcome Troels.

There is an addon that you can find here. It's only for v21, though.

It is good to add your version, basic computer specs, and operating system to your signature so as to get more accurate answers on this forum.

Hello,

Once we import revit file using IFC type, Can we do the changes of the model in ArchiCAD?

If we import revit or sketch up files it will be as a block.... So if we want to edit that we need to convert that to the morph and do the changes. But if we do this for the bigger project it will be slow.

Other than this how to convert that to normal model to do the changes in that.

If any way is there please send the procedure how to do.

This add-on is not designed to replace IFC, just supplement it and allow quick import of common RFA files. Hotlinking RVT files this way only bring them in as a collection of objects, which is great for geometry checking and referencing, but for full interoperability use IFC.

When you use the Place Hotlink command you can select either RVT or IFC. RVT is relatively straightforward and simple, but only really gives you basic geometry in the form of library parts. IFC is more complex and requires more set up and translators (too much to explain in one post), but results in native ARCHICAD elements like walls, slabs, roofs, etc as well as an endless amount of data.

Under Place hotlink file>> File type its not showing .rvt, I am getting only .ifc, .2dl, .plp, .mod, .pln.

How to get .rvt file type.

And I am not able to download this BIM6x what link you are sent. Its asking to add to cart only. I clicked on that but I don't get anything.

So how to get that.

I downloaded one object from www.bimobject.com but it is in lcf file. Its not importing. How to fine rfa file from bimobject.

Hi,
Ya I got this file,I tried this.
Thank you.
But if I want other objects like bottles, plates, dart boards and all it is not there in the bimobjects library, how to get that.
How to know that it is a .rfa file or not.
All the files which are there in the bimobjects are almost the .lcf files only. So is there any other way to get the objects library.

How to edit the revit file in AC. I installed the BIM6x file and add on to the AC file and imported as you suggested. But I cant change the wall height thickness and all. I made it ungroup also but still its not. Y . How to edit that?

Mmmm. This was exactly what was my main fear about releasing the RVT/RFA support. Great... but, be sure to understand what is it supposed to do and what NOT to expect.

First, the add-in is well done if you consider the inherent limitations with this. There is no way native Revit elements will behave exactly the same in ARCHICAD. For editability, this is not the solution and even IFC has severe limitations (better ensure you use Design Transfer MVD for that).

The purpose is doing coordination (not touching the geometry) and importing library objects if they are only in RFA format.

@Roopa > if you have an LCF file available from a particular BIMobject, use that. It is a native ARCHICAD library container file. But please read the documentation. The majority of your questions are handled within the RVT/RFA PDF documentation.

Then the revit file we can't edit in AC like wall height and all. If I opened the settings it not using the ok button. its greyed!!!

SO is there any option to do the changes of revit file in AC. How?

An LCF file is an ARCHICAD library. You add that via the library manager and than the objects inside the library become available for your project.

Full editing of RVT elements inside ARCHICAD is not possible. They are created differently and behave differently. This only works for plain and simple conversions via IFC. The RVT/RFA add-in is not intended for that workflow. You receive static geometry. They appear as walls, but they don't behave like them.

In that case, the Revit modeller needs to export ideally to IFC 4 using the Design Transfer MVD and the ARCHICAD translator has to be checked for the best import settings.

The RVT file is Hotlinked - you can only place an RVT file via the Hotlink. You can't edit any Hotlink directly. If you no longer want it Hotlinked, you should embed (break) the Hotlink (therefore no longer linked to an external file). This is why the OK button is disabled.
