So if I understand correctly you want to display an image preview of the Slab in your Schedule?
If so, this is not possible to do, not even in ARCHICAD 19.

Yes, currently only GDL-based element types can have 2D symbols/3D Axonometry, etc. displayed in Schedules.
Currently these include the following Tools:
-Door
-Window
-Corner Window
-Skylight
-Object
-Stair
-Lamp
-Wall End

ARCHICAD 20 has been announced so I can tell you that in ARCHICAD 20 every 3D element type will have a preview that can be displayed in Schedules, not only GDL-based element types. There will be 3 options: 2D Cross Section Preview, 2D Plan Preview and 3D Axonometry.

Hi, Is there a way to control the preview orientation? E.g. if I look the window from the outside I'd prefer to see the 2D plan preview the same way.

The short answer is - no.
The 2D preview comes from the window GDL script (or in fact it is the 2D preview in the GDL script) so the outside will always be the top of the 2D symbol regardless of how the window is placed in plan or the orientation of the wall.
