<T>I have a schedule that's reading fills (for the purpose of fenestration).
i'm using the same format in several project files but in some i can't edit my text fields. Getting a "item selected in schedule is on a hidden layer" in some but not others. What is the setting to unhide layers in a schedule?
You can't really - delete the view to the schedule in the view map and then redefine the view to the schedule. The first time you save the view it saves the layer state and then doesn't allow you to change them afterwards AFAIK.

Thanks Mark.
i'm finding i just need to be careful what the last view i'm in before saving the schedule as it defaults to the layer set of that view.

You should make a dedicated layer combination for schedules. Good idea to make everything visible and show everything in your renovation filter also. Assuming you want everything to be scheduled.

Cheers,
