I found the ONYX trees from a link here on this forum....
I have downloaded a free tree to test it out....
but
how do i use it?
the .bro file is not recognized as a library part. Do i need to convert it to another file type?

further more... if any one uses these trees, are they really that much better than the built-in archicad trees?
I am not detailing site work very often.
My presentations include master planning (right now)
and tons of high res trees really bogs the render time down
Some perspective views are required... but in this stage of the project
only trees and generic shrubs are needed for spacial representations..

an opinion is all i ask for
that and
how to even use these trees

Onyx make accurate and polygon-intense objects.

The file format you need in Archicad is a 3Ds. You may need to adjust the XYZ axes if the tree comes in sideways.

You will not render a forest of them, but use them for foreground effects.

It is an entire essay to explain how to work with Onyx and optimize them for Archicad.

Attached is a sample of a rendering used with Onyx.

Consider the Hoshino tress as a viable alternative. And Archicad 11 has some improved 3D trees in the library.
