<T>Hi -

I need a solution for posable, editable 3d people and mannequins for my projects (in-store display & merchandising visualization). Does anyone know if AC & Poser play nice together? Poser will apparently export DXF and 3DS, which can then theoretically be imported into Archicad. Has anyone here tried it?

thanks
Simon</T>

I do this occasionally - be sure to enable smoothing when you import the 3Ds - also ensue the xyz coordinate systems match - If the figure comes in laying down.

Attached is a figure generated by poser and executed in coated foam.

Hi Dwight -

Do you know if it will import the colours and materials that were in the poser/3ds model?
Is it better to use DXF or 3DS files? Sorry if these are rookie questions.

Thanks for your help!
thanks, I'm gonna buy it then. I liked the demo, seems easy enough.
Simple enough, but the limb/joint rotations and extensions will drive you crazy.

You should also look into the People library, about ten years old product by David Maudlin (he is here on the Talk)

The posability is as good as Poser, but the fashion styles are somewhat limited.

On the Artlantis Forum, there is a whole topic where people exchange the posable figures created for Artlantis renderings. Some of them very, very lifelike.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I've had some success so far. I haven't been able to import textures yet from poser, but I'll check out the links and post back if I can't figure it out.

cheers
