Thanks,

<T>Hello talkers,

I have an interactive schedule set up to display the zone areas in residential construction. I use to show calculated area to the tenth decimal. This is causing confusion with the building department and they always round to the whole number. I have the preferences in Calculation units to 0. but I can not seem to get rid of the decimal point. Am I missing something obvious?</T>

Hmm... I just made a simple interactive schedule to list a zones area, and changed my settings to zero decimals, and I got the same result as you.. as far as I can tell there's no setting we're overlooking.. something that I find interesting is that if you just look at the simple zone list it doesn't have the decimal... which makes me wonder if its a setting in the interactive schedule setup

This is just another of the limitations of the I.S. I'm sure hoping that all of our comments about the version 1.0 aspects of the I.S. will be listened to for AC 10 and that we see improvements in this area.

The only way today to get the format you want is to use a list scheme and a graphic format (not a text format as shown in Daniel's screenshot).

The graphic format wizard allows every field to have it's own formatting applied. So, areas are not universally tied to the Calculate area preference ... you can display no decimals in one field (and no decimal point), and 3 decimals in another.

In general, if the I.S. cannot format something the way you want, the next option is a graphic list scheme ... but 'user friendly' is not a word that will come to your mind when you go there. <E>😉</E>

Cheers,
Karl

PS If you have ArchiStair, look at the Rooms/Zone Categories graphic scheme that is loaded as part of ArchiStair ... it presents the data in a tabular fashion, but with 2 decimal places. A good starting point for what you want. For some reason, all of the schedules that GS themselves deliver with AC are in a f**g stupid format of displaying one item per page rather than in tables.

Hi Karl,
Could you direct me to this "Rooms/Zone Categories graphic scheme", I have archistair but I can not locate it.
Also I modified one of AC9 zone stamps to my needs but for my life I could not avoid the decimal and fraction at the end of areas reported.
Thanks,
Hi Joseph,

If ArchiStair is loaded, you should see something like the screenshot below when you look at your list schemes. The ArchiStair zone scheme can be duplicated and saved in your personal library and edited.

The arrow points to the "9.2" field which is what says to display 2 digits after the decimal point for the data in column 5. This is where the decimal places can be changed - without any regard to the global settings, and on a per-data field basis.

The interface is completely barbaric when compared to Filemaker or Microsoft Access of course. (Also, all formatting units are displayed in mm, even though one might be working in Imperial and be expecting to see inches and points.)

Cheers,
