Hi,

I was looking at buying maxonform but have since decided to buy C4d and then link C4D with Archicad 11. However i have heard that the new Cinema 4D V10 wont work with Archicad plugin. Can someone please tell me what version of Cinema 4D I need? All i want to do is work in AC 11 and then use the freeform modelling of C4D. I dont need to render as I do this in 3DS Max
How well does ArchiCad and Cinema4d work together? I wan't a freemodelling tool that works good with ArchiCad and also a renderingtool outside ArchiCad.</T>

Export works very well, you can update your model in different ways, also export by fraction to ease the work in C4D.
You need to be well organized with material; C4D can structure your model by material
I personally work a little with C4D, just basic choices (camera, some textures, additional objects, limited tries…) then I collaborate with an arch illustrator because it is a long learning process to control everything, render and wait and render again, radiosity is time consuming, the software is big (but interface is 10 times smarter then AC, everything into a project manager). I never tried to import back using maxxonform plug-in, I think people are not so happy with it. I bet the freeform modelling tool for AC is not so far ready.
I think it is more flexible this way than to make basic rendering into AC and then call somebody who use software you have no idea how it works. Even though I'll never reach the level of an illustrator, I appreciate to share the same programs (C4D and Photoshop), make some tries, collaborate rather than subcontract. But it is not a cheap way.
A very good tutorial into www.archicadtutorials.com.

Hi Mats,

Have you managed to get this plugin to work? (AC11 - C4D R10.5.2)
When I hit the "Create New Object With Cinema 4D" button in AC, C4D gets opened, but nothing is imported (and the ArchiCAD plugin is not available).

Thank you in advance.
I have R10.008. I remember I saw something about the upgrade but I didn't install it obviously.
Due to GS it works for R10.5....I have to try it myself.
Cheers,
Glad to see im not the only one confused Adrian. I spent the whole of yesterday trying to figure it out. Same problem it opened up C4D with nothing showing and then plugin is not availiable, I thought the button might have been placed elsewhere. Anyone solved this problem?

Well, it seems that finally I've got it. First of all, it will not work with the 64 bit application of C4D (if you've selected the 64 bit, choose "Remove C4D's Preferences" in ArchiCAD's menu, and then start over, choosing the 32 bit one).
About which file goes where, this is the part where things get confused (I think).

1. I have installed the add-on following the directions given by Graphisoft ("double click the installer file to place the Cinema 4D 10 add-on in the Cinema 4D folder inside the Add-Ons folder of your ArchiCAD 11 folder.")

2. Uncompress the Cinema 4D 10 plug-in in the "MAXON\CINEMA 4D R10\plugins\cinema4dsdk" folder (copy the "res" folder and the "ArchiCAD.cdl" file, overwriting when asked).

3. In "MAXON\CINEMA 4D R10\Exchange Plug-ins" folder I have deleted the "ArchiCAD 9" and "ArchiCAD 10" folders (I am working in AC11, but I don't know if this step was really necessary).

4. Now the connection between AC and C4D should work as expected (in C4D, the ArchiCAD menu should appear in Plugins > Cinema4dsdk).

Hope this will help you.

Cheers.
