With the flat marquee, copy the 3D window portions you need, while in Internal engine, not OpenGL.

Paste it into an empty storey or a dummy section, elevation, worksheet (probably the best place for it).

Publish to DWG.

With the 3D window active, SaveAs .DWG
And read the Help menu.

I am trying to save out some ISO views to 2d DWG files for further editing but my consultant is getting flat plan view drawings of the marqueed area that I am viewing in isometric. Why no 2d isometric line showing in AutoCAD? (and yes, I am saving the ISO view from the 3d window as DWG)

I didn't know it's poossible to save 2D dwg from the 3D window. Are you sure your consultant has his view set right so he sees everything he's got?

Nevertheless, to make sure, from the 3D view in Archicad, SaveAs 2D lines, then open the saved .2dl file in Archicad.

Now from the plan view, export dwg as usual. this will give the dwg the content you describe.
