I wish that some people would be so kind as to try this merge conversion from Acad to AC. I need to know if its me or is this just what the program does (explode).

Thanks,

<T>When I set up the translator and then merge a dwg file that has leaders, the leaders end up being exploded and not becoming a label. Any way around this?

Thanks,
I guess if no one has answer by now, it must mean that when the ACAD leader gets merged into a AC file, it gets exploded.
Edited:

I checked: In AC9's translator (Open with the Settings button when before startof import with Open dwg) it's under Custom Functions > Open Extras > Leader.

I seem to recall there's a setting in the Translator for that (no time to check just now). Duplicate your Translator, Check all settings (expand those that are hidden) and change those related and test.

Been there done that. It still expodes it to seperate font, line and arrow tip. I would really like to work this out. I have a lot a ACAD details that I would like to import into AC and I would like the ACAD leaders to act as labels, so that modifying or moving them won't ever an issue. I sure would hate to bring in all my ACAD details and then have to re-label them with AC.
1. I know a number of people working in ACad that don't use the leader tool and instead just use polylines, custom arrowheads and text blocks. What are the chances?

2. Also is it possible the original file was an ACad version 14 or earlier? I seem to recall the same problems when inserting leaders from those versions. Even though the orignal file was created in ACad 2000 or later, it is possible that some save it as ACad 14 or earlier to maintain backward capibility.....

I haven't run into this problem by myself. I know I've been confused previously by the different "explode" settings, though. If you haven't done that already, I'd test them all and see if something changes.

Also, there's a text about label conversion on the AchicadWiki: <LINK_TEXT text="http://www.archicadwiki.com/TechNotes/D ... =%28DWG%29">http://www.archicadwiki.com/TechNotes/DWG_label-leader_conversion_in_PM?highlight=%28DWG%29</LINK_TEXT>

I don't think it's fully clear, though. It concentrates more on appearance than functionality.

Of course, if you've tested all options, and you are certain of what this is pn the Autcad side, it might be a bug in the translator. If you think that, you should contact your reseller and let them forward your bug report to Graphiisoft.
