this is nothing to do with multi-platforming: the navigator disappears because you have 'auto hide navigator' switched on (this is a really useful feature if you have limited screen space - you can have the nav appear on a single key shortcut and it disappears again when you start working). simply right-click on the upper part of the navigator (same deal with organiser) and turn it off.

your last complaint - the palette scheme changing to custom - has always been like this and always annoys the hell out of me. same with the new user preferences scheme now that tracker and guides have been added to it. the logic goes something like this: you have your work environment window open when you redefine your palette scheme, right? so when you close that window after the redefine process it always defaults back to its original position . . . this is considered a palette/window 'adjustment' and kicks the palette scheme back to 'custom' . . . and of course it stays 'custom' until the next time you open the WE when it displays in all of it's illogical glory.
Thanks...

But I still have to wonder, why does this ONLY happen when my MAC opens up a file from windows? If I don't ever open a WIN file, the MAC will plug along just fine.
