I have a similar but different problem. I created my roads using the Color Terrain Tool since I am modeling an existing site. The topography has changed considerably (bad topo data from the city) and when I tried to update the colored areas according to the manual, nothing happened. I eventually drew a new fill pattern and turned that into the painted terrain again. It looked exactly the same! How can it be referencing old terrain that no longer exists? Am I missing something or is this a bug?

<T>the selected road is not completely included in the terrain!!
this is the warning that shows up when i´m doing the road. I did all the steps, polyline, select it and the terrain and after when is all defined it happen.
Someone has any idea why is this happening?
thanks</T>

Please, browse the ArchiTerra web site at:

because a lot of questions you are asking for are quite well explained in the FAQ section of this site (for example this one!).
How did you modify your terrain?
The Coloured Area is linked to the original terrain from which it has been generated so, if you delete the terrain and build up a new one the Coloured Area won’t be automatically updated.
On the other hand, if you really created a new Coloured Area (by drawing a new fill) it should follow the ground morphology!

Please, send me this file (not a PLA but a simple PLN, better if it includes only the terrain data) at my e-mail (fabrizio.diodati@cigraph.com) and I will check it.
Fabrizio:
I modified the terrain by dragging nodes on contour lines to eliminate giant holes in the roads. This problem made no sense to me so after my post last night, I decided to try it again and got it to work. I only did 2 things differently.
1: shut down ArchiCAD and re-booted the computer.
2: In the geometry and positioning options, I changed the terrain from "skirted superficies" to "solid bodies", the way it was set when I originally painted the terrain.
When I opened the file this morning, I was horrified that neither my hard to create roads OR the terrain were showing! The disappearing roads are a recurring problem. I closed the file, re-opened it and viola, there they were. What's up with that?
Please let me know if you would still like a PLN file.

That's the reason!!!

The coloured area use SEO so they cannot work if you don't use solid meshes!!!
