<T>Hello,
I have 2 questions:
1. Is there going to be an ArchiCAD <> 3d max plug in? something like with cinema? I'm using 3d max, and i wouldn't like to learn another 3d soft.

2. Is maxonform still going to be in use, or now we can comunicate with cinema 4d directly? And what version do you need for that? 10.5?
Thx in advance..</T>

Does exporting as 3ds work well enough for you for max?

Maxonform is being discontinued; search for recent thread which gives link to press release. The add-on for AC and plug-in for C4D will be made available for free from GS, presumably for the current version which is 10.5 now. Somebody else can provide more details if the other thread doesn't answer your question.
No, it does not. Often the geometry is badly importet, and i have to take houres to fix it.
Is there NOW plugin for cinema 10.5? Is that comunication both way, or just from archicad to cinema? I would realy apriciate if someone would give me that link.

Thx a lot!
I'm just thinkig, do you know what an young architecure have to know in order to get a job in this time? As you can all see in some job offers, knowing CAD and 3d max is must to!!! So, if graphisoft want to atract young people to use ArchiCAD, why then pushing them to learn cinma 4d, when it is more likely that 80% of them use 3d max? Maybe i am wrong, but i just want to know more about this topic, since i also use 3d max

The number of architects who will actually use 3ds max is surprisingly low, from my limited experience visiting various firms. Many US firms outsource their renderings. Those who do it in-house, usually have one specialist.

It seems you are reading ads for AutoCAD people ... and that wouldn't be a forward-thinking firm that a bright young architect should be considering IMHO. <E>😉</E>

If you want to continue to talk about job prospects, start a new thread in an appropriate forum either the Student forum, or ArchiCAD+ forum. Thanks.

Cheers,
heh, i am not talking only about rendering! I am also talking about modeling in cinema, since that is one of the options to make ArchiCAD modeling better.
I've tried ArchiCAD + cinema workflow, and i have to admit that it is not so bad as i though it would be My only wish was to have 3d max plug in.
I don't know for situations in your country, but here, in Serbia, you just have to know 3d max to enter some arhicetural firm.

I absolutely sympathize with your local software issues, but the possibility of a Max connection seems a distant possibility since we are so well serviced with alternatives already.

It is like that in every country because that is what the bosses have heard of.

In reality, what you use (as long as you have it and they don't have to pay for it) does not matter as long as you produce expected results - or better. Then the envy of the others around you starts to work ... and so on ...

There are many applications that render CAD files.

I find it fascinating how groups gather around various software methods, the rise and fall of various products and how this industry is new enough and filled with fresh enthusiasm that new applications can rise and be successfully marketed - Maxwell, for instance - just when we think AutoDesk is about to achieve world dominion.

Certainly, in any given firm, what the illustrator brings to the table is largely going to establish what that firm allies with.

I see a definite opening for fast rendering software that can be employed simply by designers - this is NOT the case with most applications that are technically complex and repugnant to the artistic mind.
