topic AC>C4D Exchange - Exporting Zones in Collaboration with other software

<T>I'm surprised I'd never tried this before but we cannot seem to export Zones visible in the 3D window into C4D R10 via the Exchange Plugin - we just get an empty file containing the ArchiCAD tag on a Null Object.

Does anyone know if this is possible or not?

I'm assuming it is an oversight in the plugin and not a bug as I've tried this on a mix of machines (G5's, Mac Pros and MacBook Pros) using new files without success.</T>

I assume it is because a zone represents space and not a solid element and is thus not exported to a program that is used to render and animate solid models.

OK well that spatial v object difference does make sense, however I don't know what the difference is between how a Zone and say a Slab in their description by ArchiCAD as a 3D element in the 3D window (as this is the only place you can save a C4D file from). On the surface at least they can appear exactly the same .. i know there must be a difference.

We're use Zones for most of our preliminary massing model visualization instead of slabs, etc as they are there for the areas anyway - we'd just like to be able to render / animate these in C4D now rather than AC. Will suggest it to GS..
