I distinctly remember saving out a .SKP file from the 3D window in AC11. I remember because my office has been using SketchUp for a while and I was showing one of the teams how "easy" it was to save out a .SKP file in AC. The .3DS, .DXF, .DWG 3D export engines triangulate and try to regularize the 3D surfaces from the AC model which look like c%*p and are not very usable once imported into SketchUp.

My reseller suggested using the .KMZ (Google Earth) export then converting the file into SketchUp format from Google Earth. I haven't tried it yet, but even if it worked it's a tedious work-around for a simple request.

You may ask why am I trying to go backwards into a conceptual design program from a robust, accurate, object-based modeling software... To make a long story - short, I am in the process of trying to "win them over" and prove that ArchiCAD will work for our offices needs. Every little thing like this issue is a chink in my AC defense armor.

<R>Is it just me, or can we no longer "Save As" a SketchUp (.skp) file from the 3D window in AC11?

I remember being able to do this previously... Or was I just dreaming?</R>

Yes, I already have that loaded along with the Google Earth Connections Add-On.

Is it active in the AddOn manager?

Maybe I am the wrong person to keep posting on this since I am on Mac thus I don't have the plugin.

He's asking for the "Save as" function, as opposed to the "Open" or import function which is what the Sketchup and Google Earth Addons facilitate.

ArchiCAD has never really had a means of saving as Sketchup or .skp format. You have to save as a .3ds format and then import the 3ds file into Sketchup, unfortunately.

I get the impression that a "Save as" addon or function would have to be developed from the Google/Sketchup side of the equation since it was Graphisoft who developed the import plugin themselves, for ArchiCAD.
