Hi,

I've found an issue regarding the interactive schedule that I hope someone might be able to shed some light on. I've created a schedule and export it (<S></S>as ArchiCAD Interactive Schedule Setting File (ArchiCAD 10)<E></E>)to have a copy to share with other files. The schedule has also been saved as a view set and placed on a layout. So far all good.

At a later stage when I go the layout to update the schedule, I get an error message saying that the schedule can't be updated and there is a link missing. I then have to go to the Element schedule settings and import the very file i just created and tada...the schedule work as it should...for a while. Why doesn't the link to this file stay? Do I have to keep linking this file every time i would like to update the schedule?

I seriously doubt this is how Graphisoft intended the schedule to work...

<T>Greetings:

Try as I might, I can't get any of the schedules, elements lists, etc. to function as two-way, interactive schedules. It doesn't matter which schedule/list I try - I highlight the row, and none of the cells are editable.

Did I miss a memo? Is there a switch somewhere that needs to be toggled in order for the schedules to become two-way? Is there a Goodie lost in the woodpile that is my filing system, that I should've installed?

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

After reading this, I booted up AC and went directly to one of my many schedules using the Open Schedule command, and found that I was able to edit most of the cells in it, for the first time.

I proceeded to check other schedules, and found I could edit most of them. Then, I went back to the first schedules that I'd checked, and found that I can no longer edit them - each cell is fixed, impenetrable, once again.

I checked Settings, and don't see any command that looks as though it would affect the ability to edit a cell. I look around the various windows and don't see any kind of lock/unlock command.

After writing the above, I went back into the program and checked schedules again. One became editable again after I toggled the Show All Layers command (!); I found that another was not editable when in 'show full width" zoom, but was editable when in 100% zoom.

Now if I could just figure out how to make these scheduls consistently editable, I'll feel a little more confident about using them.

Ideas? Thoughts?

Thanks much, Djordje - glad to see you're still manning the forums. I'll bet you're keeping busy in Dubai?!

Regards,
The elements that are included in the schedule must be on unlocked and visible layers in order to edit them. I suspect this is the problem you've encountered. Has been that way since IS was introduced.

A more subtle problem may haunt you at some point: the field names that are displayed in the schedule are the text prompts seen in the object settings dialog... BUT, behind the scenes, AC is using the actual GDL parameter name. If you have two objects aggregated onto the same schedule row that have the same English (e.g.) prompt for a parameter - say, "Edge Color", but because the objects come from different libraries/versions/authors/etc (and do not use subtypes properly) the behind-the-scenes GDL parameter name differs for each (say, 'ecolor' for one and 'coloredge' for the other), then you will not be able to edit that field in the schedule. This is a design flaw in the scheduler, IMHO, since the typical non-GDL user will not have a clue as to why the field cannot be edited.)
Good to know this Karl - thanks. This could explain at least part of the behavior I've been experiencing.
I'll keep this in mind, should I ever venture into such exotic territory.
Much thanks all,
